How does the city comparison tool work?

Where do the comparison numbers come from?

Every figure is read live from the same federal datasets used across PlainCities: Census ACS 5-Year estimates for population, income and housing; FBI UCR for crime; NOAA Climate Normals for weather. No values are estimated or interpolated.

How many cities can I compare at once?

Up to four cities side by side. Add cities with the search box; remove one by clicking the × on its column.

Why is a value shown as N/A?

Some smaller places are below the Census reporting threshold for a given table, so that single value is suppressed at the source. We show N/A rather than guessing a number.
