Census tract lookup
Enter a U.S. street address. PlainCities passes it to the U.S. Census Bureau's geocoder, which returns the 2020 census tract the address lies in; the tract's figures open below. PlainCities does not store the address.
How does the lookup find a tract?
The Census Bureau's geocoder matches the address to its address ranges along each street (the current benchmark) and returns the 2020 census tract, county and state for the matched point. An address on the boundary between two tracts is assigned to one of them by the geocoder; a new street may not be in its ranges yet.
